Taylor's Law Ball 2019

It was truly a night to remember as students of the Taylor’s Law School wore Hawaiian themed outfits for the Taylor’s Law Ball 2019. The lecturers even joined in the fun and came dressed in their best Hawaiian digs. As soon as the students registered, they were given a variety of colourful Hawaiian flower garlands to choose from. There was also a booth serving complimentary coconut water which was perfect for the evening heat. A colourful and fun photo booth was set up for the students and lecturers to capture memories of the night together.

Once all the students were ushered into the hall which was set up beautifully, they took their seats and the hosts of the evening, Lucas and Dominic welcomed the crowd. The night kicked off with an entertaining dance performance by the organising committee of the Law Ball 2019. Mouth-watering Indian dishes from vegetables to chicken were served that left the crowd wanting more.

After everyone had finished their dinner, there was a line-up of thrilling performances where students of the law school were given a chance to showcase their talent. The first performance of the night was by Veenea from Semester 4, who performed two songs including Count On Me by Bruno Mars. The next was from a band from Semester 2, called ‘Rubber Band’ followed by more exciting acts which included an old-school rock and roll band that played the classic ‘Can’t Take My Eyes of You’ which was a crowd favourite. ‘Two voice KL’, a duo from Semester 3 serenaded the crowd with a mashup of ‘Beautiful Souls’ and ‘I like it better’ and ended their performance with Chris Brown’s ‘With You’.

In between the showcase of talents, the hosts of the nights entertained the crowd with their humorous jokes and riddles. They even caught the crowd’s attention by having lucky draws throughout the night as the students sat at the edge of their seats anticipating a chance to win a prize which included unique pencil boxes and water bottles.

Some of the students really dressed to impress and their efforts did not go to waste as prizes were given for the Best dressed male and female of the night. The nominees were nominated by their peers and all the nominees had to gracefully walk down the aisle to display their outfits of the night. The audience was then given a chance to choose the Best Dressed Female and Male of the night. The award for Best Dressed Male was given to Prishanth, the clear winner of the night who amazed everyone by with his batik sarong. The award for the Best Dressed Female was a tie and to emerge as the winner, the two finalists had to answer law related questions posed to them by the teachers. In the end, the question that decided their fate was the question on the requirement of negligence which was successfully answered by Geetha from Semester 4 who wore a beautiful flowy rose dress.

Before the night concluded, the last performance of the night was from the group, ‘Prosecuties’ from Semester 2 who showed off their dance skills by dancing to ‘DU-U-DU-DU’ and ‘Kill this Love’ by Blackpink. The Law Ball 2019 which was successfully organised by the Taylor’s Law Society created precious memories for the attendees, brought friends together and reminded everyone that law school is not always just about studying but also about enjoying oneself.
